[Jerusalem Post] Ruthie Blum Leibowitz - Ike Aranne (formerly Yitzhak Aronowicz), now 85, was the captain of the Exodus. On July 11, 1947, the ship set sail from France with a crew of Hagana members who were transporting more than 4,500 Jewish refugees, most of them Holocaust survivors, to Palestine.
