(Ynet News) Matan Tzuri - Thousands of Sderot residents were evacuated from the city on Tuesday, accompanied by members of the Home Front Command, after Israeli airstrikes against Palestinian Islamic Jihad in Gaza. Ramona Sayag, a Sderot resident who evacuated with her family, told Ynet that "a social worker called me and told me that I was going on vacation with the children due to the security situation." The evacuation program was coordinated and funded by the Defense Ministry, based on lessons learned from previous rounds of fighting in Gaza. Each Gaza border community has a designated location. The first to evacuate were those with special needs, families on welfare and the elderly. There was another large evacuation on Wednesday. In some communities, only "those with essential positions" remained, including emergency teams and dairy farmers. 2023-05-11 00:00:00Full Article
