(Jerusalem Post) Avi Dichter interviewed by Eliav Breuer - Avi Dichter, a member of Israel's Security Cabinet and former head of the Israel Security Agency, said he voted for the hostage deal, seeing no other way to bring them home. However, he was adamant that alongside the deal, "Gaza will never be a military threat to the State of Israel." The long-term strategic goal is for Gaza to be completely cut off from Israel, since the war could very well have led to even more radicalization among the Gazan population, despite Israeli efforts to avoid civilian casualties. Every family in Gaza had at least one casualty or prisoner held in Israel. The war will lead to Palestinian vendetta attempts for at least two generations, he said.
