Most Westerners solve problems by division - giving each side half a loaf. Jihadists solve problems by annihilation - taking everything when you can, conceding nothing, especially against Jews - or Christians. To Westerners, compromising with enemies reflects strong character. To jihadists, compromising conveys weakness - and is a green light inviting aggressive attacks.
