At UN, 80 Countries Demand Reopening of Hormuz, Condemn Iran, Houthi Attacks ( Reuters)
"Iran's actions in the Strait of Hormuz continue to threaten international security and navigational rights and freedoms," 80 countries said in a joint statement read out by Bahrain's Foreign Minister Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani at the UN on Thursday.
"We also strongly condemn the Houthis' decision to resume conflict in Yemen, their continuous strikes on Saudi Arabia, and their reckless attacks in the Red Sea."
Palestinian Authority Honors Terrorist Who Rammed Israeli Soldier - Itamar Marcus ( Palestinian Media Watch)
The Palestinian Authority has praised Mahmoud Suleiman, the terrorist who critically injured IDF reservist Neria Leiter, 39, in a car-ramming attack on Wednesday.
Leiter is the son of Israel's Ambassador to the U.S. Yechiel Leiter.
The PA praised Suleiman as a "Shahid" - a Martyr who died for Allah.
Both in its official daily and on its official radio station, the PA stressed that Suleiman, who deliberately rammed his car into Israeli soldiers at a military checkpoint, died and "ascended to the heavens" as "a Martyr."
Glorifying terrorist murderers who are killed while attacking Israelis as "Martyrs for Allah" has been standard practice in the PA for decades.
Pay-for-Slay in Action: Palestinian Murderer Was in Debt, Wanted Jihad Payoff from PA - Lt.-Col. (ret.) Jonathan Conricus ( X)
"Pay for Slay" by the Palestinian Authority is still in full effect, paying Palestinians for killing Jews.
The murderer of father of six Nathaniel Shukrun [on Sep. 20] admitted he wanted to get out of debt and instead of just killing himself, he went for killing a Jew.

Canadian Journalist Faces Discipline after Documenting Pro-Palestinian Protest at Yom Kippur Service - Warren Kinsella ( Toronto Sun-Canada)
Neil Herland, an award-winning Canadian Broadcasting Corporation ( CBC) journalist with three decades of experience, was hit with disciplinary action after he filmed a pro-Palestinian protest outside a Jewish religious service on Yom Kippur.
On Monday, Herland, who is Jewish, went to the Meridian Center in Toronto where two dozen protestors blocked the entrance, waving Palestinian flags and yelling epithets and abuse.
One man, wearing a mask, repeatedly yelled "You're going to Hell," using a bullhorn. Another man screamed "baby killer." When the cantor at the service went outside and smiled at a protester, another yelled: "The Jew smiles while he kills babies in Gaza."
CBC's actions seem unfair, say CBC veterans, because their journalists are explicitly permitted to write about "lived experiences," just as Herland did on his personal X account.
Following the tragic 2021 mass-murder of a Muslim family in London, Ont. - and after a Muslim CBC journalist gave her personal opinion about the terror attack on a national broadcast - CBC's Ombudsman decreed that no rules were broken, saying, "We value lived experience and community connections in our journalists because it helps us to broaden and deepen our journalism."
So why does Muslim journalists' "lived experience...broaden and deepen" CBC journalism, and Jewish journalists' "lived experience" does not?
BBC Accused of Bias for Calling Dead Terrorists "Journalists" - Gordon Rayner ( Telegraph-UK)
The BBC has reported the deaths of 53 "journalists" in Gaza who have been claimed as terrorists by Hamas and other groups.
Some of them took part in the Oct. 7 attacks and several have been hailed as "martyrs."
Many of the supposed journalists are pictured on social media dressed in military fatigues and holding weapons and, in some cases, wearing headbands associated with terrorist groups.

Why Israelis Defy the Collapse in Fertility that Has Swept Western Societies - Yannay Spitzer ( Tablet)
Over the past two generations across the developed world, people have stopped having children.
In the U.S. today, the average woman will give birth to 1.6 children over her lifetime - far below the level needed for a population to replace itself.
In South Korea, fertility has collapsed from six to well below one child per woman.
One country stands out against this global trend. Israel's Jewish population is the only clear exception.
The deeper explanation lies in culture. Israel is, in a deep and measurable sense, a pronatalist society.
This orientation may have roots in Jewish religious tradition, but it is widely shared by secular Jews as well.
When asked about their ideal family size, 81% of secular Jewish women aged 25 to 39 report wanting three or more children - an average higher than that recorded in any other Western country.
There is also an ideological component. Part of it can be understood as a multi-generational response to the Holocaust.
Declarations by survivors that their personal "victory over Hitler" lies in having many grandchildren and great-grandchildren living in a Jewish state - and serving in its army - have become familiar motifs in public discourse.

- U.S. Warns Countries to Cease Trade with Iran - Benoit Faucon
Jonathan Burke, Assistant Secretary of the Treasury for Terrorist Financing, traveled across the Middle East and Europe in September to warn Iran's trading partners: You either trade with Tehran or Washington.
The commercial strongarming is working. In recent days, Iran has seen its airlines cut off from critical regional routes and its top commercial bank stopped from transacting in the UAE and Turkey.
"Iran has been a problem for 50 years, and we've kind of reached our peak at tolerating this problem," said Burke. Overall, the Treasury Department met with more than 50 countries. Diplomats reached out to nations like Azerbaijan and Georgia, which also shut out Iran's airlines. (Wall Street Journal)
- 6,000 Leaders across Entertainment, Academia and Public Life Unite to Reject "Genocide" Accusation Against Israel
More than 6,000 leaders and public figures from entertainment, academia, literature, government, business, religion and civic life have joined an open letter rejecting the accusation that Israel is committing genocide in Gaza and warning that the charge is fueling antisemitism around the world. The authors of the letter include Yossi Klein Halevi, Rabbi Yitz Greenberg, Rabbi Micha Odenheimer, and Professor Jonathan Karp.
The letter begins: "We the undersigned are outraged and sickened by the latest blood libel to be inflicted on the Jewish people: the lie that Israel committed 'genocide' in Gaza. We reject this accusation with contempt."
"The unprecedented combat conditions of the war - hundreds of kilometers of tunnels, thousands of boobytrapped homes - the conflating of combatants with 'journalists' and 'human rights workers,' the ratio of civilian-to-terrorist casualties, considered low for asymmetrical urban warfare, the absence of mass starvation despite repeated claims of imminent catastrophe, the warnings given to civilians before attack: All these factors were erased in the eagerness to indict Israel for genocide....Only one side intended to commit genocide, and that is Hamas."
"The massacre of October 7 has been systematically downplayed, while Israeli actions have been distorted and amplified. Israel went to war on October 8 not out of vengeance...but to break the Iranian-led siege of terror enclaves on its borders, and to restore its deterrence, without which it cannot survive in the long term in the Middle East. Thousands of rockets and missiles were fired at Israel in the weeks following the massacre, while Hamas starved and tortured 250 Israelis, some of whom were murdered in captivity."
"The bitter irony is that Israel...is the only country to face a sustained war of attempted genocide - from its inception in 1948 until today."
Amb. Deborah E. Lipstadt said: "Those who accuse Israel of genocide, a very specific crime with a legally specific definition, are fulfilling the dictum attributed to the Nazi propagandist Josef Goebbels. 'If you tell a lie and keep repeating it enough, people will eventually come to believe it.'" (Creative Community for Peace)
- UK Gave Citizenship to Hamas Chief's Guard, Then He "Plotted Terror" - Gabriel Pogrund
A former bodyguard to the leader of Hamas secured asylum and citizenship in Britain before "plotting" a terrorist attack against Jews in Europe. Mr. X, who cannot be named for legal reasons, served in the personal security team of Ismail Haniyeh, the leader of Hamas in Gaza, before moving to the UK more than a decade ago.
At the time he was awarded refugee status, it was public knowledge that he had worked for Haniyeh, was the son of another senior Hamas official, and had been arrested in Egypt for operating a tunnel used to smuggle firearms and gold into Gaza. Yet Mr. X, in his 40s, was granted sanctuary and able to operate under deep cover as an IT consultant living in the suburbs of a large English city.
Today, he faces extradition to Germany where he is accused of being a leading figure in a plot to attack Jewish community centers, Israeli diplomats and pro-Israel demonstrations there or in neighboring Austria last October.
Mr. X is accused of transporting weapons including handguns and live ammunition to a storage facility in Vienna, according to a German indictment. The indictment says he pre-recorded a video in which he appeared masked and armed in front of a Hamas flag, describing the planned attack as an act of retribution on behalf of the Izzedine al-Qassam Brigades.
Over the previous two decades, the UK had become a destination for leaders of Hamas and the Islamist group from which it evolved, the Muslim Brotherhood. (Sunday Times-UK)

- Palestinian Terrorist Who Took Part in Kidnapping on Oct. 7 Killed in IDF Strike - Emanuel Fabian
Saher Nidal Saqr, who took part in abducting Noa Argamani and Avinatan Or during the Oct. 7 invasion, was killed in an Israeli strike in Nuseirat in Gaza on Saturday. Infamous footage from the Hamas-led invasion and massacre showed Saqr taking Argamani on a motorcycle to Gaza after she and Or were abducted from the Nova music festival.
Saqr was involved in supplying weapons to Hamas during the war, and recently, he was advancing attacks on troops and Israeli civilians. The IDF said he was killed to "remove a threat." (Times of Israel)
- Video: Gazan Terrorist Uses Child to Transfer Weapons - Miriam Sela-Eitam
The IDF released footage on Sunday showing a terrorist using a child to transfer weapons into a civilian home in central Gaza. "The terrorist exploited the child, using him as a human shield to transfer the weapons, in an attempt to prevent the IDF from striking and thwarting their transfer," the IDF said. "Upon identifying the presence of a child, the IDF refrained from carrying out any strikes against the terrorist."
The scene was an example of the "systematic exploitation of children by terrorist organizations for terrorist purposes, in violation of international law." (Jerusalem Post)
Global Commentary and Think-Tank Analysis:
Observations:
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed the United Nations General Assembly on Sep. 24:
- "Fourteen years ago, I stood on this podium and I drew a red line. I vowed to prevent Iran's murderous dictatorship from developing atomic bombs, nuclear weapons aimed at destroying Israel, nuclear weapons that could threaten the entire world. That's exactly what we did....If we hadn't done it, we'd all be dead....This is what this conflict is about. It's not about territories, it's about a Jewish state at any boundaries."
- "On October 7, 2023...thousands of Palestinian terrorists stormed into Israel from Gaza....The Hamas terrorists committed the worst slaughter of Jews since the Holocaust. They went house to house shooting Israeli civilians point blank. They did so with fiendish glee. With sadistic joy they live-streamed as they murdered."
- "And who did they murder? The very Israelis - their neighbors - who gave them jobs, who picked up Palestinian children at the Gaza border and drove them to Israeli hospitals for cancer treatment, and then brought them back."
- "These Hamas monsters, they slaughtered Holocaust survivors. They burned babies alive in front of their parents. They beheaded our men. They brutally raped our women and then they murdered them. Altogether, they slaughtered 1,200 Israelis that day....Proportionately, this is equal to 40,000 innocent Americans slaughtered in less than 24 hours. That's 16 times 9/11."
- "Our enemies expected us to collapse....Instead, we rose and fought like lions. For the past three years, our heroic soldiers have fought day in and day out in a seven-front war:...Hamas, Hizbullah, the Houthis, Iran, militias in Iraq, militias in Syria, Palestinian terrorists in Judea and Samaria....We delivered crippling blows to all of them....Khamenei, Dief, Sinwar, Haniyeh, Nasrallah, and thousands of other terrorists who sought to destroy us - they're all gone."
- "The remaining terrorists desperately try to regroup. Every day they try to murder our people....We will continue to defend our state. We will continue to win. Because we have no other choice."
- "It will take time for the world to acknowledge what is so plain to see. That Hamas used Palestinian civilians as human shields. That it used hospitals, schools and mosques as terrorist command posts. That it stole much of the food we let into Gaza. While Hamas did everything possible to keep Palestinian civilians in harm's way, often at gun-point, Israel did everything possible to get them out of harm's way....Is this genocide? Of course not. It's the opposite of genocide."
