Israel Opens Ancient Site Near Jerusalem Shrine
[Reuters] Jonathan Saul - Israel has opened to the public an underground archaeological exhibit in Jerusalem near Judaism's holiest site, the Western Wall. The "Chain of Generations Center" took over 10 years to construct and includes a Jewish ritual bath dating to the 1st century which was discovered during building work. Arieh Banner, an official with Israel's Western Wall Heritage Foundation, noted that the site did not run under the Islamic Dome of the Rock shrine. "We have not done any work in the direction of the Temple Mount," he said. "The site is at least 20 to 30 meters from the Western Wall."
