(Ha'aretz) Yoav Stern - The arrival of Jordanian Ambassador Dr. Marouf al-Bakhit revived the embassy, located in Ramat Gan. Two days after Bakhit's Feb. 20 arrival, the telephones began ringing and new initiatives were offered. Previously ambassador to Turkey, Bakhit retired from the army in 1999 at the rank equivalent to major general. In the past few months the highest echelons in Amman decided to promote ties between Jordan and Israel after a cold spell that lasted years.
