Israel Opposes Convoy Passage from Gaza

Over the weekend, Assistant U.S. Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs David Welch met with Sharon, Mofaz, and Abbas in a bid to reach a settlement. However, the talks failed. Government officials in Israel continue to insist that the PA exhibit clear steps against Islamic Jihad terror cells and prevent the firing of rockets at Israel before negotiations are resumed.
