France's Sarkozy Says Syrian President Must Quit after "Massacres" Committed by His Regime

(AP-Washington Post) French President Nicolas Sarkozy issued a new call Tuesday for Syrian President Bashar Assad to step down because "the massacres being committed by the Syrian regime rightly arouse disgust and revolt in the Arab world, in France, in Europe and everywhere in the world."
