Bin Laden Said to Offer Gold to Kill Paul Bremer, Kofi Annan
(AP/New York Times) - A statement attributed to bin Laden appearing Thursday on a website known for militant Islamic messages said: "We in al-Qaeda will guarantee, God willing, 10,000 grams of gold to whoever kills the occupier Bremer, or the American chief commander or his deputy in Iraq." The statement promised the same reward for the deaths of Kofi Annan, the UN secretary general, and his envoy to Iraq, Lakhdar Brahimi.
