Rajoub: Egypt Did Not Ask Arafat to Cede Powers
(Jerusalem Times-Palestinian) Ihab Jabari and Bassem Shehadi - Jibril Rajoub, Arafat's national security advisor, denied news reports that Egypt demanded Arafat cede his powers to Prime Minister Qurei and accept a symbolic role. "Egypt did not issue an ultimatum to President Arafat and is not trying to limit his powers," Rajoub said.
