Arafat Undermines Independence of PA Prime Minister
(AP/Jerusalem Post) Yasser Arafat on Sunday proposed to the Palestinian Legislative Council several changes to a Palestinian basic law approved last Monday that a diplomatic source said constituted a significant decrease in the powers vested in the PA's prime minister. The changes would give Arafat the ultimate say in the creation of a new Palestinian Cabinet and the right to chair Cabinet meetings.
