Iranian Hackers Attack Israel Electric Corp.
(Ha'aretz) Galit Yamini - Iranian hackers have attempted to break into the Israel Electric Corporation's computers and disrupt the power supply in Israel several times in recent months. The Iranians sent viruses and attempted to overload the servers in what is known as a "denial of service" attack. The Israel Electric Corp. managed to identify the hacking attempts and foiled them without any damage to the power systems. The Shin Bet traced some of the hackers and virus senders to computers in large universities in Iran.
