The Chicken Lady of Jerusalem
(Miami Jewish Star Times) - Clara Hammer is a little old lady who arranges to feed 184 destitute families in Jerusalem. Her office in her tiny living/dining room consists of a small table, some cardboard boxes and envelopes, a ledger book, and a telephone. She has no computer, no stationery, no secretaries, and no e-mail, and the largest butcher bill in Jerusalem, with more than 700 people depending on her to raise money for food - demonstrating the power of what one person can do to make the world better.
