Israeli Court Convicts Ex-PM Olmert of Bribery
(AP-Washington Post) An Israeli court on Monday convicted former Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, 68, of bribery in a Jerusalem real estate scandal related to Olmert's activities as mayor of Jerusalem and minister of industry and trade before he became prime minister in 2006. He was accused of taking bribes to push the Holyland apartment complex forward, a controversial project that required a radical change in zoning laws and earned the developers tax breaks and other benefits.
