West Bank Operation Delivers a Strategic Blow to Hamas

(Ynet News) Ron Ben-Yishai - The kidnapping may have won Hamas some credit on the Palestinian street, but in the long term, Hamas may lose the chance to achieve its strategic goal - a political and physical takeover of the West Bank, as it had done in Gaza. Israel's operation against Hamas is meant to thwart a Hamas takeover of the Palestinian Authority and the PLO.
