Hard-Line Iranian Cleric Elected Leader of Influential Panel

(Los Angeles Times) Ramin Mostaghim - Hard-line Iranian cleric Ayatollah Mohammad Yazdi, 83, defeated former President Ali Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani on Tuesday to lead the Assembly of Experts by a vote of 47 to 24. The group chooses Iran's supreme leader.
