New Radar to Address Gaza Mortar Threat
(Ynet News) Matan Tzuri - Residents of communities adjacent to the Gaza border fence, as well as IDF soldiers, have a 3-5 second warning-time to run for cover when a mortar shell is fired from Gaza. The IDF is installing a new radar system that would increase the warning time to 15 seconds. After five soldiers were killed in a staging area outside Gaza from mortar fire, the army now will use mobile warning systems to alert the exposed soldiers to the incoming danger.
