London Times Corrects Headline on "New Settlements"
(UK Media Watch) Adam Levick - The London Times on Jan. 23 headlined an article, "Israel Marks Trump's Arrival with a Raft of New Settlements." Israel hasn't constructed a new settlement in two decades. The story involved new homes within the boundaries of existing towns in the major settlement blocs which will remain part of Israel in any future peace deal. After we contacted the Times, the editors amended the headline to read "new settlement homes." Whatever one's views on Israeli construction across the green line, the narrative often advanced in the UK media - of new settlements expanding at "a record pace," eating away at "huge swaths" of Palestinian territory - is, at best, extraordinarily misleading.
