Syrians Are Practicing with S-300 Air Defense System
(Jerusalem Post) Seth J. Frantzman - Syrian air defense personnel have reached advanced stages of training on the S-300 air defense batteries deployed by Russia last September, Maariv reported. The "question of independent operation of the air defense system is a matter for Russia to decide and not related to the operational capability of the Syrians trained to maintain the system," the report said. Russia is aware that if it leaves and the batteries threaten Israel, the system may be destroyed.
