Hizbullah Financier Sentenced to Prison in U.S., Fined $50 Million
Kassim Tajideen, 63, a Lebanese businessman designated by U.S. authorities as an important financial supporter of Hizbullah, has been sentenced to five years in prison and ordered to forfeit $50 million, the Justice Department said. Tajideen, 63, pleaded guilty in December to one count of conspiracy to launder money. He ran a vast business empire in Lebanon and Africa, and was extradited to the U.S. in March 2017 after his arrest in Morocco.
