Afghan Refugees Head to Turkey after Economic Downturn in Iran
(Washington Post) Erin Cunningham - Decades ago, the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan prompted thousands to flee to neighboring Iran. Turkey says 184,000 undocumented Afghans crossed the border last year - up from 100,000 in 2018.
