U.S. to Impose Sanctions on Syria Aimed at Blocking Assad's Military Victory
(U.S. Mission to UN) U.S. Ambassador to the UN Kelly Craft told the Security Council on Tuesday: "The United States is resolute in our commitment to reaching a political solution to the Syrian conflict...[and] to deny the Assad regime and its allies a military victory in its nearly decade-long war against the Syrian people....Our aim is to deprive the Assad regime of the revenue and the support it has used to commit the large-scale atrocities and human rights violations that prevent a political resolution."
