Israeli Spike Missiles Give U.S. Army New Capabilities
(The Drive) Joseph Trevithick - A U.S. Army AH-64E Apache attack helicopter fired an Israeli-made Spike non-line of sight (NLOS) missile at a boat 20 miles away in a successful test off the coast of Florida in February. Israeli Apaches have been employing the Spike-NLOS operationally for years. The U.S. Army has announced plans to integrate the weapons onto its AH-64Es. The Spike's guidance system allows an operator to make adjustments during the flight thanks to a video feed from an infrared camera in the weapon's nose, giving it incredible accuracy, even against moving targets.
