UK Pledges to Stop Council Boycotts of Israel
(Jewish News-UK) Lee Harpin - Boris Johnson's government unveiled a new legislative program on Tuesday that includes measures to stop publicly-funded bodies backing the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) campaign against Israel. Local councils will be banned from "taking a different approach" to the national government and "imposing their own approach or views about international relations." The government said legislation was required to address concerns that "such boycotts may legitimize anti-Semitism."
