Microsoft Says Iran Hackers Targeting Israeli, U.S. Defense Technology Firms
(Microsoft) The Microsoft Threat Intelligence Center (MSTIC) has observed the Iran-linked DEV-0343 conducting extensive password spraying to gain unauthorized access to Office 365 accounts, with a focus on U.S. and Israeli defense technology companies, Persian Gulf ports of entry, or global maritime transportation companies with business presence in the Middle East. This activity likely supports the national interests of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Microsoft assesses this targeting supports Iranian government tracking of adversary security services and maritime shipping, as well as gaining access to commercial satellite imagery.
