Recognition of a Palestinian State Will Be a Victory for Iran and a Reward for Islamist Terrorism
(Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs) Amb. Freddy Eytan - The president of the Spanish Government, Pedro Sanchez, says he has agreed with the leaders of Ireland, Malta, and Slovenia to take "the first steps towards the recognition" of a Palestinian state. Acts of recognition of a Palestinian state within the pre-June 1967 borders represent no significance other than an expression of political opinion. These actions and declarations contradict UN Security Council resolutions in favor of "secure and recognized" borders freely negotiated between the parties in a peace process sponsored by the international community and in accordance with Resolution 242. Negotiations are also a requirement of the still valid Oslo Accords of 1993 and 1995.
