Israel "Operating Carefully and Precisely" in Rafah
(New York Times) Matthew Mpoke Bigg - Israel's military battled deeper into Rafah on Thursday, expanding its offensive into the city. Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari, the chief military spokesman, said on Thursday that Israeli forces were "refining our operations so that there is minimal harm to the Gazan civilians Hamas is hiding behind." He added, "We're not smashing into Rafah, we're operating carefully and precisely." The Israeli military has been moving in studied advances into Rafah since May 6, without the heavy bombardment it used against other parts of Gaza, after telling people to evacuate parts of the city.
