U.S. State Department: Turkey Does Not Meet Legal Requirements to Receive F-35 Aircraft
(Jerusalem Post) Idan Kweller - Turkey still does not meet the legal requirements to rejoin the F-35 fighter jet program, the U.S. State Department said in a letter to Congress on July 22. The State Department's Bureau of Legislative Affairs' response to a letter from Rep. Wesley Bell (D-MO) reiterated that Washington's policy toward Turkey's participation in the F-35 program remains unchanged. No F-35 aircraft can be transferred to Turkey until Ankara fully complies with U.S. law regarding its acquisition of the Russian-made S-400 air defense system.
