Ella Waweya, IDF spokesperson for the Arab world, was interviewed Saturday by Saudi Arabia's Al Arabiya: Q: Some view the fact that you are Arab and Muslim, and now a spokesperson for the Israeli army, as you being part of a reputation-washing effort for the Israeli military. Waweya: I am very proud to be an Arab Muslim woman who belongs to her community and culture, and at the same time, I am proud in fulfilling my duty as a spokesperson for the Israel Defense Forces. Q: Don't you feel anger when there are dead children? Waweya: In every war, there are casualties. And this is also what happened in Israel, what happened in Gaza, what happened in Syria, what happened in Iraq, what happened in Yemen, what happened in Iran....But I believe, trust, and affirm that the Israel Defense Forces are among the most noble and honorable armies, and that is why I am here."
