AI May Cut Jobs, but Defense Tech Is Hiring
(Jerusalem Post-Globes) Tal Pinkasovich - In May, Israel's Kela Technologies, a company that did not exist two years ago, became a unicorn with a $1.2 billion valuation. The company was founded in July 2024 by Alon Dror, a former senior official at the Ministry of Defense Directorate of Defense R&D and winner of the Israel Defense Prize, to develop command and control operating systems for border areas. After securing several outposts on the Jordanian border, Kela is significantly expanding its activities on the northern border, with dozens of additional outposts. Israeli defense exports reached $19.2b. in 2025, up from $14.8b. in 2024 - a fifth consecutive record. Israeli start-ups working with the Defense Ministry's R&D directorate raised more than $1b. in 2025, against $150m. in 2024. Since Oct. 2023, more than 130 Israeli start-ups have been folded into the war effort.
