U.S., Canadian Healthcare Failing to Address Rising Antisemitism since Oct. 7
(Jerusalem Post) Mathilda Heller - A new study reveals an international resurgence in antisemitism in healthcare education and practice since Oct. 7, 2023, prominently affecting the U.S., UK, Canada, and Australia. A recent survey revealed that 88% of Jewish medical students and physicians in the U.S. have reported experiencing antisemitism since Oct. 7, 2023, compared to 40% before that date. In a 2024 survey of Jewish healthcare professionals in the UK, 95% reported an increase in antisemitism in their daily lives since Oct. 7, and 73% reported experiencing at least one antisemitic incident. In Canada, a review of 1,000 Canadian Jewish medical professionals and students found that only 1% felt antisemitism was a severe problem in the medical field before Oct. 7, compared to 98% after.
