IDF Confirms Killing Hamas Commander Who Held Multiple Israelis Hostage in Gaza
(Times of Israel) The IDF announced Friday that Hamas commander Muhammad Bassam Mushtaha from the Al-Shati battalion was killed in an airstrike in northern Gaza on July 30. Mushtaha was responsible for holding a number of Israelis captive who were kidnapped on Oct. 7, 2023, including Tsachi Idan, who was slain in captivity in Dec. 2023; Cpl. Noa Marciano, who was killed in Gaza in Nov. 2023; as well as Ziv Berman, Omri Miran, Ori Megidish, Naama Levy and Matan Angrest, who were all later freed or rescued. Separately, the IDF said that on Thursday it killed Hudhaifa Khaled Suleiman Qawari, a company commander in the Khan Yunis Brigade who was advancing attacks against Israeli troops.
