Israel Discovers Second Temple-Period Burial Cave in Jerusalem
(Jerusalem Post) Miriam Sela-Eitam - An ancient burial cave was discovered beneath a building by Border Police officers operating in the Silwan neighborhood of eastern Jerusalem, the Israel Police announced on Monday. The Israel Antiquities Authority said the burials date back to the Second Temple period (516 BCE to 70 CE). Other archaeological artifacts were also found within the cave. The discovery came after a police investigation into a violent clash between two feuding families.
