Lebanese Army Wants IDF to Remain in Southern Lebanon for Fear of Hizbullah Return
(i24News) A senior American official stated that certain officers in the Lebanese army did not, at this stage, wish for a withdrawal of the IDF from southern Lebanon. They fear that a departure of Israeli forces would allow Hizbullah to quickly return to the areas from which it has been excluded. Israel demands guarantees to prevent Iran-backed Hizbullah from reestablishing its military presence in southern Lebanon before considering any changes to its own deployment in the region.
