IAEA Secures 73 Tons of Uranium Hidden in Syria
(DPA) UN nuclear inspectors have secured 73 tons of uranium stockpiles in Syria dating from the Assad era. The material had been verified and secured by International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) experts in recent days and was now under IAEA monitoring. Israel destroyed the construction site of a nuclear reactor in Syria in 2007 to prevent the production of nuclear weapons. The IAEA concluded in 2011 that it had been a secret reactor bearing similarities to a reactor in the nuclear-armed state of North Korea.
