Israeli Combat Medicine Slashes IDF Deaths after Oct. 7
(Fox News) Benjamin Weinthal - An IDF medical specialist told Fox News that during "the Second Lebanon War [in 2006], it took 15-20 minutes for advanced life support to reach a casualty. Now, advanced life support can reach a casualty immediately or within four minutes." The placement of "medical personnel on the battlefield, including a doctor in every company, allows the IDF to make critical decisions early on during the care process." The IDF has implemented a sophisticated system for providing blood to injured soldiers. First-responders carry blood on their backs in coolers to control hemorrhaging, a method that "saved significant numbers" of injured soldiers. An advanced system of data collection "transmits the data over technical networks so that every provider can see patient data." According to IDF data, the mortality rate during the 2006 war against Hizbullah was 15% in contrast to 7.1% during 2023. The U.S. Army and the IDF have been cooperating on battlefield medicine for years. In April 2026, the U.S. military released a 78-page report, "Israeli Defense Force Medical Lessons Learned," explaining the pressing need to absorb Israel's advances since the start of the war in 2023.
